FEMA E0273 Managing Floodplain Development through the NFIP

This course is designed to provide an organized training opportunity for local officials responsible for administering their local floodplain management ordinance. The course will focus on the NFIP and concepts of floodplain management, maps and studies, ordinance administration, and the relationship between floodplain management and flood insurance.
Participants must complete the following online tutorials:
1. Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) tutorial at http://www.floodmaps.fema.gov/tutorials/ot_firm.swf (30 minutes)
2. Federal Insurance Studies (FIS) tutorial at http://www.floodmaps.fema.gov/tutorials/ot_fis.swf (40 minutes)
The course is FREE. However, participants must furnish their own lodging, meals and transportation. Those wishing to attend the course must obtain a Student Identification
Number (SID) and fill out an application form (FEMA Form 119-25-2). Go to the following webpage for instructions on obtaining the SID and downloading the FEMA
form: http://training.fema.gov/Apply/notice.asp. Once you have completed the FEMA form scan and email the form back to Jeffrey.firstname.lastname@example.org
FEMA has limited the class to 36 people.
