Ways to get involved

The 2026 Board of Directors elections will take place through an online electronic voting platform.  E-mails will be sent to LFMA members with the link and instructions for casting your vote.  

LFMA members that wish to run for office must submit an intent to run no later than March 15, 2026 to LFMA Secretary, Kara Moree, by email at [email protected].  The notice of intent e-mail should include a brief bio and photo.  A list of board positions and their roles can be found on the Elections page of our website.

You have until March 15, 2026 to submit nominations for our LFMA award categories.  Click on any of the options below for more information and to nominate an individual, organization, or community:

Rodney Edwin Emmer Award

In recognition of Meritorious activities in Floodplain Management within the State of Louisiana

Theodore "Ted" Debaene Award

In recognition of a Project, Product, Design, Innovative Concept, or Outreach which positively impacted

 Floodplain Management within the State of Louisiana

Outstanding Community Award

For recognition of a Project, Outreach, or Significant Accomplishment by a Community within the State of Louisiana which positively impacted Floodplain Management within the State of Louisiana.

How You Can Get Involved

LFMA has seen huge successes because of the support and participation of it's members. As we continue to grow, the board is always looking for ways to enhance the LFMA member experience and to be sure we're offering quality information and education mixed with a little fun.

We want to give our members an opportunity to participate in all LFMA does and not just be a spectator. We are inviting everyone to consider joining a committee. You can help in a big or small way, whatever your time allows. We need your ideas, knowledge, and experience to continue to make LFMA a great organization.
